Coming Up!
Workshop #2 is next month! We have 19 girls signed up already. So exciting! We will be hosting it at the Experimental Aircraft Association Building in Fort Myers, Florida. This facility has a simulator, plenty of tables and chairs, and is right next to the taxiway of Page Field Airport. I’ve been volunteering with the EAA for ages, so I’m excited to make use of the space for another exciting project. Pictures of the facility are below! At the last Paradise Coast Ninety Nines meeting, the Girls Who Soar Flight Day was officially made into a “Let’s Fly Now” event. “Let’s Fly Now” is a program originated and coordinated by…

Workshop #1 – Complete!
The workshop for Saturday, September 10th is complete! We had 10 girls in attendance, which was great considering the stormy weather. It was such an exciting session, and I’m so proud of all of the girls for pushing through the day and learning with me! We build wing ribs, made a flight plan, called WX BRIEF, learned about the phonetic alphabet, made keychains, and so much more. We also had two incredible speakers – Katie Truedson and Cheryl Lynn – that talked to the girls about recreational and career flying. I’m so grateful for everyone who came out for this workshop.

On the other hand, Girl Scouts has guidelines prohibiting the use of privately owned aircraft in affiliation with Girl Scouts for any purpose, including privately owned aircraft. This inspired me to create a petition that…

We’ve been working really diligently to get the packets ready for the girls. Some of the things that will be included are a laminated plotter, a sectional sheet, phonetic alphabet cards, and more! Some sneak peak pictures are below. Lots of crafts are in the works as well! Plotters Sectional Charts Keychain supplies Enthusiasm!

Wing Ribs 🛩
The wing ribs for our “The Plane, Explained” activity are almost done! This is the aspect of the workshop I am most excited for, besides meeting and getting to know the girls, of course. Seeing the project come to life is so rewarding! I can’t wait to see all of the girls there on the 10th for the first workshop!
